What I’m Reading

All Books

Reading is one of my favorite things in the world! I’ve been keeping track of the books I’ve finished since 2010. You can check out the growing list below. It’s currently just a Google Doc but I’ll probably update it to an Airtable at some point.

Nonfiction related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

Below is a list of nonfiction books related to DEI that I have either completed or have in my queue. I created this list because I wanted to hold myself accountable for diversifying what I read and to share reading suggestions. The tags are rough and imperfect but have been helpful for recognizing gaps in my knowledge and worldview. An ongoing priority for me is to read more books from Indigenous, Chicanx/Latinx, trans, non-binary, and non-Western perspectives. Please let me know if you have any reading suggestions or feedback on my list!

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in Academia

If you’re interested in learning about diversity, equity, and inclusion in academia, I recommend the following resources:

  • Equity in Graduate Education – This organization has a curated list of articles that are meant to foster learning and adoption of inclusive practices in graduate education. They also have quarterly journal club meetings!

  • #ShutDownStemThis grassroots organization has a bunch of resources on anti-racism in general and in academia. I like that the website organizes its resources into different categories based on how much the reader already knows about DEI! (As of 12/18/20, this website appears to be down.)
